The AstroTarot Lowdown for September 2026

โจ The AstroTarot Lowdown for September 2026 ๐ฎ โจ
Dearest AstroTarot Reader, ๐
Welcome to September.
The month of the second harvest.
Of Mabon.
Of the great pause between the light and the dark, when day and night stand exactly equal and the whole world seems to hold its breath.
August, with its total eclipse in Leo, was wildfire.
Until the Pisces partial eclipse at the end of the month brought rainstorms โ and deep, deep release.
September is the weighing.
Not "what did I dream?"
But "what actually grew?"
And perhaps, more tenderly...
"what am I willing to let go of, so that what remains can ripen?"
๐ My Own Harvest
I am writing this to you from the ancient land of Andalusia.
We have arrived safely โ and honestly, we knew it was going to be hard, but this was the second hardest experience of my life. Beaten only by having to make the decision to turn off my daughter's life support. That utter heartbreak happened just over a year before the great eclipse of 1999 โ when the sky went pitch black in the middle of the day (my 22nd birthday).
And this August it happened again โ the sky went dark in the middle of the day โ the day after my birthday.
Eclipses are real pivotal markers โ especially when they fall so close to, or on, one's birthday.
Eclipses also mark things coming in threes: the earth, the moon, the sun. In 1999 my grief was three-fold. I had lost my daughter, my marriage, and the closest person I ever had to a father.
I remember an astrologer saying to me: 'It doesn't feel like it now, but congratulations. Something has been seeded.'
And seeded it was. It's a complex story, but the loss ignited a purpose, a faith, and a sibling bond between two only children that runs deeper than blood and water.
It was also around that time that, somewhere else in the world, my future husband was dreaming about living in Andalusia โ the land of the pomegranate โ echoing the loss, purpose, faith and bonded story of another three heavenly bodies: Demeter, Persephone and Hades.
Now the three of us โ husband, sister from another mister, and I โ were ready. The day had finally dawned.
We were moving to Granada (Spanish for Pomegranate) in Andalusia, with our two cats, Minerva and Affey โ and there were moments when we genuinely wondered whether we were going to make it.
Richard had hired a camper van in Spain, picked it up there and driven it over to England โ and then we transformed it into our very own Cat Mobile.
And what a Cat Mobile it became!
We thought it had been too much for Affey quite a few times.
Sleep was not of the essence.
My sister from not just another mister (my late father figure's daughter) and I felt like A&E nurses in the back of an ambulance on a 72-hour straight shift, with Rich doing all the driving.
At one point Affey was totally limp.
I picked him up, gently shook him, called his name and put water on his paws and nose.
It worked.
But he came back to life with such shock that he attacked me.
My hand was bitten and ripped to shreds, I was on antibiotics (which I turned out to be allergic to) and having to check in with a medico every couple of days โ but I would take that a thousand times over the alternative.

The gratitude I felt when he attacked me is honestly unexplainable.
That was still two hours away from our new home.
And I thought those two long hours would be the end of itโฆ
Nope.
When we arrived, he was hyperventilating so badly that we had to take it in shifts to nurse him throughout the night โ and for the first week.
But he survived.
And now he is here.
SAFE.

Minerva has been absolutely fine the whole time. (Of course she has!)

Apart from when the van was moving.
Which was a lot.
Then she would constantly meow โ unless the cat-calming music was on.
So we listened to plingy-plongy cat-calming music for the WHOLE journey.
Very relaxing.

And particularly helpful for Rich trying to stay awake while driving.
He sang 'Just Keep Swimming' (from Finding Nemo) so much that I wondered why 'Love and Marriage โ goes together like a horse and carriage!' was stuck in my head. Then I realised: it was the same tune.
But actually, the van was perfect.
We stayed in it until we got here, and seeing how Affey reacted to arriving somewhere completely new, I really think keeping the amount of change to a minimum was the right decision.
And nowโฆ
We are all here.
Safe and sound.
Relationships and hand still intact.
Just about.
And there is something quite extraordinary about sitting here now and realising:
WE DID IT.
We crossed countries.
We brought our entire lives with us.
We brought the cats.
We arrived at our new home.
Our new land.
Our new life.
Which makes what happens next feel even more extraordinaryโฆ
๐ฅ A Melting Down To The Bones
Still, this August was one of the hardest months of my life.
An intense death and rebirth โ illness, emergency health situations, and relentless, punishing heat.
Andalusia has always felt like a shamanic cauldron to my being whenever I land here.
And this was THE major landing.
The relentless heat and the cicadas made it a deeply shamanic experience.
I was also running the Creation Catalyst 14-day journey through the fire of the Wands โ and it was so incredibly apt.
I had to melt down.
To release the old me in the fires.
One night I sat in the catio shivering, burning up, and in delirium, as my husband and sister held me and gave me healing.
And since then, I have burnt through to the bone.
Because before creation creates, it clears the way.
It burns down to the ground.
Which is why, now, I cannot wait to ground. We finally have our feet on our land in Andalusia, we can finally be the guardians of it for this passage of time, and I can't wait.
But one thing is for sure, it is going to take a lot of controlled human pacing โ and faith in divine timing.
If you want to read the journey from the beginning, I shared it in August's Lowdown.
The light is different in September.
Golden, but slanted.
The vines are heavy.
The evenings arrive a little earlier each day.
And there is something in that slanting light that asks a question of you.
Not loudly.
Just quietly, over the washing up.
"Is your life in balance?"
Not perfect.
Not finished.
Balanced.
๐พ The Sign of the Harvest
Most of this month belongs to Virgo.
The Virgin Mary archetype - and we have her, literally in a tiny ermita on the border of our land.

Virgo is the sign of sacred service.
Of craft.
Of the devotion it takes to do an ordinary thing beautifully, every single day, when nobody is watching.
She is what happens after the fire.
Leo creates. Virgo tends.
Leo blazes. Virgo sorts the ash, sifts what is usable, and quietly begins again.
And she is a healer โ the body, the routine, the digestion, the nervous system, the small daily repairs that make a life liveable.
After a summer like the one just gone, that is exactly the medicine.
Not another vision.
A schedule. A meal. A sleep. A walk. A boundary kept.
Then, at the Equinox, Libra takes the scales and weighs what Virgo has gathered in.
But the gathering comes first.

๐ฆ Venus Enters Scorpio โ 10th September

Seven of Cups
Love goes deep.
Venus leaves the balanced air of Libra, where everything is charming and considered, and plunges into Scorpio.
Scorpio does not want pleasant.
Scorpio wants real.
Here, Venus is in her detriment โ uncomfortable, exposed, stripped of small talk.
Which is precisely why this transit is so potent.
And the Seven of Cups is the warning inside the gift: in Scorpio's depths, desire and fantasy can look identical.
Seven glowing chalices. Seven possible loves, lives, obsessions.
Only one of them is actually nourishing.
Feel it all โ but choose with your eyes open.
๐ Mercury Enters Libra โ 10th September

Knight of Swords
On the very same day, the mind seeks fairness.
Mercury in Libra is the diplomat, the mediator, the one who can finally see both sides of the thing you have been arguing about in your head since July.
But the Knight of Swords does not amble towards the truth.
He charges.
Expect the honest conversation you have been avoiding to arrive faster and more directly than you planned for.
Say the fair thing.
Even when it is the harder thing.
Just watch the speed of your own tongue.
โก Uranus Stations Retrograde in Gemini โ 10th September

The Lovers Reversed
The great awakener turns inward.
Uranus in Gemini has been rewriting how we think, speak, learn and connect โ and from the 10th he begins reviewing that revolution from the inside.
I have chosen The Lovers reversed for this one, because Gemini is the sign of the twins and The Lovers is the card of choice.
Reversed, it asks where you are out of alignment with yourself.
Where the choice you made no longer matches the person you have become.
These are rarely external upheavals.
They are the sudden mid-sentence realisation that you no longer believe something you have been saying for years.
Let the old thought fall.
You were only living in it.
You were never it.
๐พ New Moon in Virgo โ 11th September

The Hermit
A new beginning, dressed in humble clothes.
This New Moon at 18ยฐ Virgo is not glamorous. It is practical, tidy, quietly devotional.
Virgo is mutable earth, ruled by Mercury. She is the sign that takes the fire of Leo and the revelations of the eclipses and turns them into something you can actually use. Not the vision. The schedule. Not the dream. The daily step. Not the breakthrough. The sustainable habit.
And how we need her after August.
The Lion's Gate opened. The eclipses opened. The portal carried us through. And now Virgo, in her gentle, exacting way, asks: what will you do with what you carried through?
The Hermit walks away from the noise, not to abandon the world, but to hear himself again.
Set intentions here for the small things.
The daily rhythm.
The habit.
The health.
The work done well because it deserves to be done well.
Virgo knows the secret the rest of the zodiac keeps forgetting: the sacred lives in the ordinary.
This is the medicine of having arrived. Not the drama of the crossing, but the quiet, grounded thankfulness of having landed.
Now tend what you brought.
๐ซ Chiron Retrogrades Back into Aries โ 18th September

Emperor Reversed
A tender one, this.
Chiron slips back out of Taurus and into Aries, returning us โ briefly โ to the wound of the self.
The "am I allowed to want what I want?" wound.
The "who am I if nobody is watching?" wound.
If something you thought you had healed resurfaces mid-month, you have not gone backwards.
You have gone deeper.
The Emperor reversed is the old throne wobbling. The authority you inherited โ from family, from culture, from the version of yourself you had to become to survive โ is being reviewed.
Be that gentle with yourself now.
๐ Autumn Equinox โ Sun Enters Libra โ 22nd September

Justice
Mabon.
The second harvest.
Equal day, equal night.
For one moment, the scales sit level, and everything you have built this year is set upon them.
This is the great weighing of the wheel.
What has nourished you?
What has drained you?
What are you carrying out of habit rather than love?
Justice is not punishment. Justice is accuracy.
Look honestly.
Then choose what travels with you into the dark half of the year.
๐ Full Moon in Aries โ 26th September

Queen of Wands
And here is the crescendo of the month.
The Harvest Full Moon falls at 3ยฐ Aries โ sitting right beside Neptune.
Fire and mist.
Instinct and inspiration.
This is a Moon that can feel almost hallucinatory: enormous feelings arriving with no obvious cause, dreams that seem to be speaking in full sentences, an urge to act NOW on something you cannot quite explain.
And the Queen of Wands is exactly who you need to be for it.
She does not doubt her own fire.
She does not ask permission to be radiant.
She feels the whole blaze of it โ and she stays sovereign inside it.
Feel it all.
Act on it in the morning.
๐ฆ Mars Enters Leo โ 27th September

Seven of Wands
Relief.
After weeks in Cancer, where every action had to be smuggled sideways through feeling, Mars strides into Leo.
Courage returns.
Warmth returns.
The desire to be seen returns.
But the Seven of Wands says something more particular: what you have grown now has to be defended.
You stand on the high ground you climbed to all year, and the challenges come from below.
Not because you are wrong โ because you are visible.
Hold your position.
You already did the hard part.
๐ฆ Mercury Enters Scorpio โ 30th September

Knight of Cups
We close the month with the mind going underground.
Mercury in Scorpio does not skim. He investigates.
He notices what was not said.
The Knight of Cups rides in with a message from the depths. He does not chase truth with cold detachment โ he follows the current of feeling to where the real thing hides.
Trust what you sense at the very end of this month.
It is October knocking.
๐ฑ Ground Your Growth
August asked us to create.
September asks us to weigh.
And I have come to believe that balance is not the absence of intensity.
It is the ability to hold intensity without being thrown by it.
Equal light.
Equal dark.
Both of them yours.
As the vines empty and the Andalusian evenings draw in, I will be sharing this turning of the wheel as it unfolds โ the harvest, the homesickness, the synchronicities, the astrology and the Tarot โ over on Facebook and Instagram.
And if this month you would like to take everything that August ignited โ and finally ground it into something real, steady and lasting...
...I would love to walk the Equinox with you.
With love,
